Buan County has been selected as a target site for a collaborative project on 'sustainable regional balanced development and activation of eco-tourism'.
The Ministry of Environment (Minister Kim Sung-hwan) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Kim Yoon-deok) announced on September 1 that Buan County (Eco Garden and Mudflat Healing Center), Buyeo City in Chungcheongnam-do (Sunset Observatory), and Yeongwol County in Gangwon Province (Bongrae Mountain Landmark) have been finally confirmed as the three locations for the project.
This collaboration is in line with the new government's policy direction of '5 goals and 3 specializations', aiming to move away from the concentration in the capital region and seek distinctive development strategies for the region through the activation of eco-tourism.
Buan County received high evaluations for its environmentally friendly integrated (one-stop) eco-tourism and experiential education conditions, connecting projects such as Julpo-myeon Sunset Glow Garden, Buan Haeyigil Amusement Park, Workation Center, and Mudflat Healing Center, centered around the Julpo-myeon wetland conservation area.
The project includes remodeling of the Mudflat Healing Center, eco-exploration trails, healing gardens, sunset glow bridge, with a total project cost of 17 billion won (85 billion won from the central government and 85 billion won from the local government).
