Wonkwang University's Center for Integrated Medical Innovation, led by President Park Sung-tae, held the 6th Wonkwang Integrated Medical Global Forum at the Sirius Hotel in Jeju on September 4th, exploring the direction of future healing industries utilizing marine therapeutic resources.

Under the theme of 'The Future of Marine Therapeutic Resources and Healing Industries,' experts from various fields such as integrated medicine, traditional Korean medicine, pharmacy, nursing, engineering, and marine industries participated in the forum to discuss the potential development of the marine therapeutic industry from a convergent perspective.

In the first session, topics such as the multidisciplinary role of pharmacy in the era of aging and chronic diseases, marine medicinal resources recorded in Donguibogam (a Korean medical book), a traditional Korean medicine model centered on marine food therapy, patient-centered design in nursing, and mental health content based on digital healthcare were presented. The second session shared strategies for industrialization utilizing local resources in Jeju, responses to changes in marine ecology, and the importance of blue tourism in the global wellness trend.

During the comprehensive discussion, challenges such as accumulating scientific evidence, multidisciplinary collaboration, institutionalization, and workforce development were presented, forming a consensus that the Jeju marine therapeutic industry could grow into a global model for K-wellness.

The forum was jointly organized by Wonkwang University's Center for Integrated Medical Innovation and the Jeju Institute of Traditional Korean Medicine, with co-sponsorship from Jeonbuk Bio-convergence Graduate School, Global Business Unit, and Jeju National University's Coastal and Fisheries Management Research Center. Jeju Techno Park and the Korea Spa & Wellness Association also participated, laying the foundation for industry-academia-research-hospital collaboration.

Director Kang Hyeong-won stated, "The convergence of marine therapy and integrated medicine is a new driving force for the healing industry," expressing hope that it will lead to tangible results from research and development to industrialization.
