The 'Dandelion Pilgrimage Group,' celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, will conduct a pilgrimage schedule on September 23 (Tuesday) to commemorate women who have been sexually exploited and to urge the eradication of prostitution.
Started in 2006 following the Gunsan Daemyeong-dong and Gaebok-dong prostitution gathering place fire tragedy, the Dandelion Pilgrimage Group continues its journey of memory and action under the auspices of the Jeonbuk Women's Human Rights Support Center this year as well. Departing from Jeonju at 9 a.m. on that day, the pilgrimage group will conduct a worship service at Gunsan Seunghwa Garden at 10:30 a.m., and at 2 p.m., they will hold a commemorative cultural event with the National Alliance for the Resolution of Prostitution Issues. Following this, from 3:30 p.m., on-site pilgrimages and marches will take place in the Daemyeong-dong and Gaebok-dong areas where the fire tragedy occurred.
The Jeonbuk Women's Human Rights Support Center emphasized, "The reality of sexual exploitation that transcends online and offline realms continues to persist, and memory actions to change this cannot be stopped."
