Jeonju City has newly selected one Jeonju food landmark representing the taste and style of Jeonju, as well as two 'UNESCO Creative Food Establishments,' and held an unveiling ceremony on the 22nd.
Through a rigorous evaluation by the '2025 Jeonju Food Master and Landmark Review Committee' held on the 5th, 'Mugunghwa Hanjeongsik' was designated as a Jeonju food landmark, while 'Jojeomrye Nammoon Piseundae' and 'Dasan Pig and Nakji' were finally selected as UNESCO Creative Food Establishments.
According to the 'Jeonju Food Master and Landmark Discovery and Cultivation Ordinance,' Jeonju food landmarks must have been in business for over 20 years with the same menu, while UNESCO Creative Food Establishments must have operated with the same menu for over 5 years. These three establishments underwent document reviews as well as on-site tasting evaluations, assessing the overall environment, hygiene, cooking content, and staff friendliness before being finally selected.
As a result, the number of food masters and establishments carrying on the taste of Jeonju has increased to a total of 29, including 7 Jeonju food masters, 5 Jeonju food heritage establishments, 3 Jeonju food landmarks, and 14 UNESCO Creative Food Establishments.
In particular, 'Mugunghwa Hanjeongsik,' which has been operating a Hanjeongsik (traditional Korean full-course meal) at the former Geomsa Jangguan Hall for the past 25 years based on long-standing traditions and dedication, was designated as a Jeonju food landmark. The city expects that through this designation, Mugunghwa Hanjeongsik will play an even greater role as a representative food culture landmark.
