Public event for Jeonbuk Intangible Cultural Heritage Holders to be held from the 24th to the 26th

On the 24th to the 26th of this month, the city of Jeonju and the foundation Ma-dang will be hosting a public event for the holders of intangible cultural heritage in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, at Jeonju Dasa-seupcheong in Jeonju Hanok Village for three days.

This event, organized to promote the spirit and value of traditional arts, go beyond the preservation and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage to explore modern utilization methods. Seventeen performers and three organizations of intangible cultural heritage, including pansori (traditional Korean narrative song), instrumental music, and dance performers, will showcase their skills.

On the first day, attendees can witness the talents of intangible cultural heritage holders such as Shin Myung, a member of the Jeonju Gijeopnori Preservation Society, who will perform traditional Korean music and dance, as well as performances by various other artists.

The second day will feature performances by the Jeolla Samhyun Yukgak Preservation Society, Kim Kwang-sook, and Jiseongja, allowing the audience to enjoy the atmosphere of autumn nights through various performances.

The final day will showcase performances by various intangible cultural heritage holders, including Moon Jeong-geun, Lee Sun-soo, Kim Se-mi, Mo Bo-kyung, Jang Moon-hee, Wang Ki-seok, Jo Yong-an, Kim Young-hee, and Park Ae-sook.

This performance will also feature screens backstage displaying performers' profiles and photos for each performance, as well as motion graphics. Banners symbolizing the flow of sound will be installed on both sides of the audience seats, providing various visual effects for the spectators.

Noh Eun-young, the director of the Jeonju City Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, stated, "We have provided a space for citizens and spectators who love traditional arts to directly experience the essence of intangible cultural heritage performances." She added, "We ask for your interest and participation to further illuminate the efforts of intangible cultural heritage performers who are wholeheartedly preserving our traditions and values."
