The 15th 2025 World Calligraphy Jeonbuk Biennale opened on the 26th and will be held until October 26th at the Hall of Korean Sound Culture, Jeonbuk Art Center, and 14 exhibition venues in various cities and counties.
This year's World Calligraphy Jeonbuk Biennale marks its 30th anniversary, a significant turning point for solidifying the foundation of Korean calligraphy under the theme of "Resonance in Silence," showing the path of calligraphy that breathes with the times while not losing tradition.
The highlight of this Biennale is the "Meeting Classics through Calligraphy" where 1,000 calligraphers and religious figures transcribe scriptures from various traditions such as Catholicism, Buddhism, Cheondoism, and Christianity, creating a space for harmony and understanding through calligraphy as a medium.
Additionally, the K-SEOYE ART exhibition opens new horizons in calligraphy through the experimental and creative works of young artists, while the Digital Video Calligraphy combines media technology to provide an immersive experience for visitors. Various exhibitions such as "Nature, People, Hangul Light Exhibition" and "Youth Sound Era - Jeongeum" are also prepared, showcasing a large-scale exhibition that encompasses tradition and modernity, domestic and international aspects.
Chairman Song Ha-jin emphasized, "This exhibition is an important step in preparing for the UNESCO cultural heritage listing of Korean calligraphy, aiming to highlight the uniqueness and beauty of our tradition through exhibition pieces centered around Korean calligraphy." He expressed hope that the 15th World Calligraphy Jeonbuk Biennale would serve as a platform for intergenerational harmony, allowing people to reflect on the emotional and spiritual aspects of calligraphy art and support new artistic endeavors.
