On September 26, Namwon City (Mayor Choi Kyung-sik) conducted workplace disability awareness training for 67 senior public officials in the conference room on the 2nd floor of the city hall.

The disability awareness training is a legal obligation under the "Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities" and the "Act on Promotion of Employment of Persons with Disabilities and Job Rehabilitation," which requires all employers and employees to complete it for at least one hour annually. Violators may face fines of up to 3 million won.

The training, led by instructor Son Guk-jin (from the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Disability Welfare Center), focused on introducing laws and systems related to the rights of persons with disabilities, assistive devices, and facilities, as well as enhancing understanding and positive perceptions of persons with disabilities based on actual welfare cases.

Meanwhile, the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled supports free training for businesses with 5 to 300 regular employees, and businesses in Jeonbuk in need of training can apply for a free instructor dispatch by contacting the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Disability Welfare Center at 063-901-5246.
