The event 'Fishing Culture Festival with People with Disabilities' was held on the 25th at the Biung Port in Gunsan, aiming to expand social participation opportunities for people with disabilities and practice neighborly love.

Organized by the Gunsan Fishing Boat Association, the event saw the participation of around 150 people, including 50 individuals with disabilities recruited through the Gunsan Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled, as well as guardians and the general public. Participants enjoyed offshore fishing experiences and commemorative performances, spending a meaningful day together.

This year, the satisfaction level was even higher as the offshore fishing experience, which could not take place last year due to a typhoon, resumed. The association ensured that people with disabilities were paired 1:1 with guardians for safe fishing, and collaborated with Gunsan City, the Maritime Police, and the Fire Department to ensure the safety of the event with additional safety management lines.

At the event venue, the representative seafood of Gunsan, the character 'Gap Tori' promoting cuttlefish, attracted the participants' attention and contributed to promoting local specialties through souvenir giveaways.

Lee Sung-won, head of the Fisheries Policy Department of Gunsan City, expressed, "The event has received high anticipation from participants with disabilities for months, and our members also feel a great sense of pride," adding, "We will continue to expand the event for the creation of a healthy fishing culture and social integration."

The event, which started in 2019, has been held annually since 2022, excluding the years 2020-2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
