Muju County is actively engaging in various sharing activities and safety measures in preparation for a warm Chuseok holiday season spent with neighbors.
Since the 22nd, the county has been implementing the 'One Village, One Responsible Officer' system, where public officials directly visit villages to check on the well-being of single elderly individuals, foster care households, social welfare facilities, and inspect any inconveniences in their daily lives. Additionally, they have set up a Chuseok Neighbor Help Center to encourage participation from organizations, groups, and residents, aiming to spread a culture of sharing. Currently, there are 1,941 marginalized households and 290 social welfare facilities in the county.
Hwang In-hong, the county mayor of Muju, stated, "We are practicing sharing and care to ensure that all residents can have a happy Chuseok holiday," adding, "During the holidays, we will operate a comprehensive situation room to ensure that residents and visitors can have a safe and comfortable Chuseok."
From October 3rd to the 9th, Muju County will operate a comprehensive situation room (1 room, 7 sections, 28 staff members) focusing on managing nine areas including disasters, medical emergencies, transportation, prices, waste management, water supply, livestock diseases, incidents, and accidents. They are particularly prepared for emergencies by operating a 24-hour disaster safety situation room (063-320-2495) and an emergency medical situation room (063-320-8315).
Furthermore, efforts are being made to improve road conditions for travelers. They are repairing damaged roads and facilities on 17 routes, including one national road, four provincial roads, and twelve county roads. They are also deploying street tree management teams and forestry workers for tasks like weed removal, roundabout and flowerbed maintenance.
Through these efforts, Muju County is making thorough preparations to ensure that both residents and visitors can have a safe and warm Chuseok holiday.
