National Gugak Center to hold special Saturday performance "Afternoon Filled with the Scent of National Flowers"

The National Gugak Center (Director Kim Joong-hyun) will hold the 2025 second half Saturday special performance series, "Pan," at Yeowondang every Saturday from October 18th to November 22nd. The theme of the event, titled "An Afternoon Filled with National Flowers," will feature a total of six performances that combine the traditional beauty of Korean music with a modern sensibility, with the participation of the National Gugak Center Dance Company, professional arts organizations, and universities.

The stage on October 18th, which marks the beginning of autumn, will feature the fusion Gugak group 'Play Gaon' presenting a creative musical drama titled "" that reinterprets the pansori tale of Shim Cheong through the eyes of father Shim Bong-sa, adding a fresh touch of jazz to the traditional narrative. On the 25th, the 'Chungju City Wooruk Gugak Orchestra' will take the stage, presenting the grand melodies and majestic emotions of , inheriting the artistic spirit of Wooruk.

The November performances will be even more colorful. On the 1st, the National Gugak Center Dance Company will showcase the depth of traditional arts through the planned performance "," which combines dance, instrumental music, and vocal music. On the 8th, the students from the Gugak Department of Chonnam National University and the Traditional Arts Institute of Korea National University of Arts will present a joint stage under the name 'Newbie Stage,' showcasing the creative succession of young Gugak artists and traditional performances.

On the 15th of November, students from the Department of Korean Music at Chonbuk University and the Gugak Department at Hanyang University, along with the Haeilrak Ensemble, will perform together. Their passionate performance will bring a new vitality to Korean music. The final performance on the 22nd will be led by the world music band 'Dubeonjjaedal,' expanding the scope of Korean music with their unique 'ethnic fusion' sound, decorating the grand finale of the autumn performances.
