On the 13th, Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province held a final report meeting for the commissioning of the 'Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province Environmental Education Plan for 2026-2030.'
The meeting proceeded with the final report, opinion collection, and question-and-answer session with the participation of 20 people, including Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province Environmental Education Committee members such as Song Geum-hyeon, Director of the Environmental and Forestry Department, local government officials, experts, and the commissioned agency.
The (Association) Local Administration Development Institute, which carried out the commission, presented the vision of environmental education policy in Jeollabuk as 'Everyone's Change through Environmental Education, Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province as a Leading City in Environmental Education.' Based on this, four policy directions were set to establish the basic system of environmental education in Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province, guarantee the environmental education learning rights of residents, contribute to realizing a carbon-neutral society, and strengthen the cooperation base between educational areas.
Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province plans to finalize the plan by October 20, incorporating additional feedback from environmental education-related organizations and experts, and aims to enhance the completeness of the practical environmental education model tailored to the regional characteristics by strengthening coordination with the national environmental education plan.
Song Geum-hyeon, Director of the Environmental and Forestry Department of Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province, stated, "Through this plan, we will create a foundation for residents to naturally perceive the value of environmental education in their daily lives and practice it," adding, "We will do our best to systematically promote so that Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province can establish itself as a leading city in environmental education."
