The Jeonju Cultural Heritage Foundation (Representative Director Choi Rak-gi) and the Jeonju Hanbok Cultural Creation Center have been conducting a hanbok donation campaign, "Sharing Happiness, Sharing Hanbok," since July, receiving nationwide attention.
The campaign is expected to gain even more momentum in light of the upcoming '2025 Hanbok Culture Week,' scheduled to take place from the 21st to the 26th.
Known as the 'city of hanbok,' Jeonju is a hub of hanbok culture, and the Jeonju Hanbok Cultural Creation Center is at the forefront of modernizing traditional culture through hanbok-related education, experiences, and creative activities. Particularly through this donation campaign, voluntary participation and cultural sharing among citizens are spreading, drawing attention as a model case for revitalizing hanbok donation culture.
The donated items received so far have been steadily coming from various regions nationwide, with approximately 90% of the total donations coming from areas outside Jeollabuk-do. This is a significant indicator that hanbok culture centered around Jeonju is spreading nationwide.
The donated items range from hanbok to accessories such as norigae, bags, and waistbands, as well as hanbok fabrics, with around 850 items collected to date.
The stories of the donors are filled with joyful memories of wearing hanbok, precious sentiments inherited from mothers, and warm affection hoping for further utility of the donated items.
