Shared workspace planC opens a special exhibition signaling the beginning of 'the end'

The alternative art space and user-shared space, planC, located in Jeonju Hanok Village, is holding its first exhibition titled "Knock Knock, I've Come to Deliver Good Words" until the 31st to summarize its activities over the past 9 years and announce the beginning of its 'closure'. The space operates from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. without closing days, and the exhibition can be viewed for free.
This exhibition visualizes the relationship of 'response' between artists, the space, and the audience through the format of 'letters' and 'replies'. The planning process itself was made the core of the exhibition after 13 internal meetings and 2 public briefings, and visitors can directly experience the 'replies' of participating artists by opening the 18 boxes placed in the exhibition hall.
The planning was undertaken by the independent curator group Clab, based on planC, and 18 artists including Kim Gye-hyeong, Kim Kwang-sook, Kim Dai, Kim Bo-mi, Kim Yong-soo, Kim Cheol-gyu, Mu Gaji, Min, Park Seon-young, Park Seong-wan, Song Su-yeon, Yoon Dae-ra, Lee Hong-gyu, Jung Yu-ri, Jung Ha-young, Ji Yu, Chae-ri, and Choi Ji-young are participating. The exhibition was selected for support from the '2025 Excellent Planning Exhibition Support Project' of the Jeollabuk-do Culture and Tourism Foundation.
planC is an independent art space operated based on 'declarations' and donations in a 100-year-old Japanese-style house, and has carried out 163 projects under the principle of a maximum usage period of up to 10 days under the 'sharing declaration'. It is also a platform that supports the experiments and autonomous activities of various artists while attempting to expand into ecological and social arts.
The space stated, "This closing exhibition is not just a simple deadline but a letter to each other and a new space for response towards the future," expressing the intention to explore the next steps even as alternative art spaces are disappearing in reality.
The exhibition reinterprets the concept of 'exhibition' itself, proceeding in a format that requests 'autonomous responses' from participating artists without specific instructions. The briefings were held in the form of 'public meetings' rather than one-way guidance, allowing the audience to directly participate in the meeting process and intervene with their opinions.
The central device of the exhibition is the boxes containing the 'replies' of the 18 participating artists. Visitors face the memories, emotions, and relationships with planC of the artists through the act of opening the boxes. Clab plans to continue with subsequent exhibitions, forums, and separate programs even after this exhibition, leading up to the operational end of planC in December.
