The 14th Family Poetry Contest, hosted and organized by the Jeonbuk Simultaneous Literature Association (President Kim Hyeong-mi) and sponsored by the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education, concluded successfully. The contest involved families creating artworks by combining drawings and poetry together, with judging criteria focusing on the harmony between the drawings and poetry, originality, and whether the author's original poetry was preserved.

President Kim Hyeong-mi stated, "Through the beautiful medium of poetry, we aim to strengthen the bond among family members, share empathy with neighbors, and communicate to create a warm world. We hold this contest annually, emphasizing the harmony between drawings and poetry, originality, and the preservation of the author's original poetry."

This year's winners, selected by the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Superintendent of Education, were Park Seo-yeong (3rd grade, Baekseok Elementary School) in the lower grade category and No Si-eun (4th grade, Gochang Elementary School) in the upper grade category. Park Seo-yeong's family chose poet Im Mi-seong's poem 'Friday' for their creation. Park Seo-yeong explained, "While reading a book, the word 'Friday' caught my eye, and I remembered the memory of my hamster that had passed away. This memory made me happy, and although the drawing didn't depict it, the content was well-written and interesting."

No Si-eun's family represented poet Kim Hyeong-mi's poem 'Bang Bang Bang Goes the Bread' through their artwork. No Si-eun shared, "The imagery in the poem 'Bang Bang Bang Goes the Bread' was familiar and fun, and the sensory expressions (like the sound effects at the end) felt very realistic. The break time scene in the poem resembled our class's break time, and since I have played with a ball kicking it before, I chose this poem."

The gold prize winners were Yang So-yul (3rd grade, Jeonju Ujeon Elementary School) in the lower grade category and Lee Da-won (5th grade, Jeonju Dong Elementary School) in the upper grade category, along with a total of 34 families receiving the honor of winning. The Jeonbuk Simultaneous Literature Association stated, "While respecting the original poems, many works were submitted where families expanded their imagination and expression together."

The award ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 2 p.m. at the Jeonju City Peace Library. An event will be organized to share the meaning of the simultaneous poetry created by families, along with an exhibition of the winning works.
