On the 17th, the Wanju County Education Integrated Support Center (Director Lim Sung-hee) held a final report meeting on the establishment and enhancement of the school-village instructor certification system, announcing a specific execution model for introducing the Wanju-style village instructor certification system.
This final report meeting was based on the results of the 'School-Village Instructor Certification System Research Project' conducted last year, aiming to share this year's research outcomes that actually design and refine certification criteria and operational systems suitable for the Wanju County situation.
About 20 people, including officials from Wanju County Office and Wanju Office of Education, village instructors, and members of the local education community, attended the meeting to discuss the direction and implementation strategies of the Wanju-style certification system.
Led by Professor Hong Soo-jin (Ulsan University, research director), this research presented practical tasks for applying the Wanju-style certification system in actual practice, such as ▲clarifying the school-village instructor certification criteria and procedures, ▲systematizing advanced professional education courses, ▲strengthening the linkage with local education content, and ▲enhancing the digital badge-based certification management model.
One village instructor who participated in the meeting stated, "If last year's research demonstrated the necessity of the Wanju-style certification system, this year's research provided us with practical directions on how to enhance our expertise in the field."
A Wanju County official evaluated the research as providing a substantial foundation for Wanju to establish an independent model, emphasizing that the Wanju-style school-village instructor certification system is an important institution for enhancing the expertise of village instructors in response to the region's educational demands.
An official from the Wanju Office of Education expressed hope that the certification system would be systematically operated to effectively connect essential school curriculum, such as disability awareness education and safety-prevention education, with local resources.
Based on the research results, the Wanju County Education Integrated Support Center clearly stated that the certification system is not intended to differentiate or rank instructors but to expand the experiences and activities of instructors accumulated over a long time in schools and villages into expertise. They plan to establish a certification system where instructors' unique portfolios and field experiences are fully revealed and prepare for a phased pilot application from 2026. They also announced their intention to continue providing support for the creation of a Wanju-style educational ecosystem where the local community and schools grow together.
