34th Anniversary of World Disability Day Commemorated... Jeonbuk Disability Organizations Hold Exchange Meeting and Welfare Awards Ceremony

On the occasion of the 34th International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the '4th Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Disability Organizations Exchange Meeting and Welfare Awards Ceremony' was held on the 1st at Jeonju World Peace Hall.

Organized by the Jeonbuk Disability Policy Forum, this event was a warm gathering for local disability organizations to reflect on the efforts of those who have worked hard for the welfare and human rights of persons with disabilities over the past year, and to strengthen solidarity through communication.

This year's welfare awardees included Lee Gwang-jang, the director of the Jeonbuk Braille Library, who contributed to expanding access to disability information and cultural enjoyment; Ha Tae-bok, the chairman of the Dream Tree Association for Persons with Disabilities, who has been active in promoting the rights of persons with disabilities; Im Mi-young, the director of the Jeonbuk Small Hands Independent Living Center, who has worked hard for independent living support and community integration; and Jang Eun-ok, a teacher at Daon Welfare Center, who has been dedicated to the education and care of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Following the awards ceremony, a cultural performance featuring singer Shin Gye-hang provided warmth and joy to the attendees.

The event was attended by representatives and members of 17 organizations participating in the Jeonbuk Disability Policy Forum, as well as Kim Gwan-young, the Governor of Jeonbuk Province, Lee Nam-ho, the President of the Real Education Forum, and Yoon Mi-yeon, the Chairperson of the Jeonbuk School Operations Committee, adding significance to the event.

Among the organizations participating in this exchange meeting were the Jeollabuk-do Physical Disabilities Association, the Korea National Association of the Deaf Jeollabuk-do Branch, the Jeollabuk-do Blind Union, the Dream Tree Association for Persons with Disabilities, Down Welfare Center, Lael, New Light Independent Living Center for Persons with Disabilities, Disability Rights Solidarity, the National Association of Parents of Persons with Disabilities Jeonbuk Branch, the Jeonbuk Severe Disabilities Independent Living Alliance, the Jeonbuk Women with Disabilities Association, the Jeonbuk Small Hands Independent Living Center, the Jeonbuk Wheelchair Independent Living Association, the Jeonbuk Disability Information and Culture Association, the Korean Association of Parents of Persons with Disabilities Jeonbuk Branch, the Korean Spinal Cord Injury Association Jeonbuk Branch, and Hope Dream.
