The Jeonju History Museum will hold a special exhibition titled 'Hyojadonghwa' in the museum's 3rd-floor exhibition hall from the 13th of this month until March 15th next year.

This exhibition gathers village stories from various locations in Hyojadong, a neighborhood famous for filial piety in Jeonju, and introduces them under the theme of 'fairytale,' highlighting Hyojadong from various perspectives.

The exhibition is divided into five parts: △'Hyojadong,' introducing the origin, landscape, people, and transformation process of Hyojadong △'Hyojadonghwa (童話),' presenting four stories related to Hyojadong in the form of children's fairy tales △'Hyojadonghwa (動畫),' showcasing the rapid changes in Hyojadong since the 1960s through edited aerial photographs △'Hyojadonghwa (洞話),' introducing village stories in Hyojadong through street names △'My Hyojadonghwa,' featuring hidden gem restaurants, natural attractions, historical sites, etc.

Especially on the 16th, from 2 p.m. for about 2 hours, Kim Jin-don, the former director of Jeonju Cultural Center, will be invited as a lecturer to give a lecture related to the exhibition on the theme of 'People of Hyojadong.' The lecture will address questions such as when Hyojadong was established and who were the people active in Hyojadong, aiming to satisfy curiosity about Hyojadong and enhance understanding of the exhibition.

Ha Jae-sik, head of the Jeonju City National Heritage Management Department, expressed, "Encountering the old stories of Hyojadong hidden in the street addresses we usually pass by, we reflect on whether we have lost the stories of the region where we live, behind the rapid development of Hyojadong." He added, "Through this exhibition, I hope people will have the opportunity to feel the charm of Hyojadong, where tradition and modernity coexist."
