The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Nature and Environment Training Center announced that it successfully concluded climate disaster response education targeting local residents from August. This education was planned to enhance the capacity of residents to prepare for and respond to climate disasters themselves in a situation where various disasters are increasing due to deepening climate change caused by global warming, which is difficult to predict.
The education took place in 12 cities and counties in the province including Gunsan, Muju, Buan, Iksan, and Jinan, and was conducted a total of 250 times for adults, with 2,550 participants. The main contents of the education included understanding the changing patterns of disasters due to climate change and practical exercises on preparing disaster bags for disaster situations. In particular, by providing dedicated educational kits, participants were able to directly create customized disaster bag lists tailored to their living environments, increasing practicality.
Furthermore, in response to requests from different regions, education was conducted simultaneously at environmental festivals to raise awareness of the risks of climate disasters and the importance of disaster bags, expanding participation of local residents. Additionally, in response to continuous requests from schools, education was conducted for an additional 18 classes in the province.
