North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province is wrapping up its generative artificial intelligence (AI) education program for senior government officials and accelerating its efforts in AI-based administrative innovation.

The province announced that it has successfully completed the "Generative AI Capability Enhancement Education" program targeting Grade 4 or higher senior government officials from the province, the provincial council, and the fire department on the 24th. This education program was developed to innovate the decision-making structure in the digital age policy in line with the government's AI-driven policy shift.

The education program was conducted in four sessions over two days, with 159 senior government officials participating. It was designed as a practical and participatory program to enable the practical use of generative AI in policy planning and decision-making processes. Practical utilization handbooks and educational videos for repetitive learning were provided.

Throughout the program, participants focused intensively on practical contents that can be directly applied in the field, such as government AI policy directions and global technological environment, AI ethics and responsible use, generative AI-based policy report writing, public data analysis and visualization, and AI utilization strategies for solving local issues.

Participants evaluated that they "realized AI utilization can change the policy paradigm" and that "the speed and precision of AI in issue analysis and report writing will drive administrative innovation."

Vice Governor Noh Hong-seok stated, "AI is not a choice but an essential competency in administration," and expressed, "Starting with senior government officials, we will gradually expand generative AI education to all employees, innovating the way we work from policy planning to execution and evaluation." North Jeolla Province plans to expand the practical training-centered education system by rank and duty, targeting team leaders and field personnel, as well as public enterprises and affiliated institutions by 2026.
