Jeongeup City and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family-supported Jeongeup City Youth After-School Academy have begun recruiting new students for the year 2026. The purpose is to support the healthy growth and capacity development of local youth.
The recruitment targets are 6th graders (prospective middle school students) as of 2025 and 1st and 2nd graders in middle school, with a total of 20 students to be recruited by the end of January next year.
The program consists of experiential activities such as career exploration through job experiences like barista, announcer, and landscape architect, in addition to academic subjects like English and math, multi-sports, and webtoon production using AI.
Jeongeup City Youth After-School Academy, operated in collaboration with Jeonbuk Science University this year, received the encouragement award at the Wanju Children's Rights Film Festival for its short film production program. This case was selected as the winner in the middle school category of the '2025 Youth After-School Academy Best Practices Contest' and received the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award. Currently, three professional instructors are guiding around 40 youth.
Participating youth are provided with safe transportation to and from the academy, as well as free meals. The operating hours are from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm on weekdays. To apply, one can visit the Jeongeup City Youth Training Center on the 2nd floor after inquiring by phone and fill out an application form.
