Jeonbuk Hyundai is accelerating the generational change of their defense by acquiring Busan IPark's promising central defender Cho Wi-je (24) to strengthen their backline.

Jeonbuk Hyundai confirmed on the 7th that they have secured the acquisition of Cho Wi-je, who is highly regarded as one of the best young central defenders in the K League, showcasing his skills through outstanding performances at Busan IPark.

This acquisition is a tactical choice to continue the team's strong defensive tradition while also building a younger and more dynamic defensive line.

Born in 2001, Cho Wi-je stands at 189cm, 82kg, and excels in aerial ball control based on his superior physical attributes. With his tall stature, quick speed, and sharp positioning ability, he has demonstrated top-tier skills in both man-to-man marking and covering plays in the league.

Having proven his defensive leadership skills as a key center-back for Busan IPark, Cho Wi-je, who has also been recognized for his abilities in the U-23 national team, is gaining attention as a future national team defender.

Entering his fifth year as a professional, Cho Wi-je, with his experience of playing 104 games in the K League 2 over four years, is expected to bring significant strength to the team's tactical setup with his buildup skills and wide defensive range.

Jeonbuk Hyundai expects Cho Wi-je to enhance the team's stability by syncing well with the existing veteran defenders and play a crucial role in the long term as the core of Jeonbuk's defense.

Expressing his excitement about joining Jeonbuk Hyundai, Cho Wi-je, who will now wear the Jeonbuk Hyundai uniform, stated, "I am thrilled to join Jeonbuk Hyundai, a symbol of the K League. I have dreamed of running on the field in Jeonju listening to the fans' cheers," and confidently added, "I will dedicate myself to the team's success and become a defender who instills trust in the fans."
