The Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education announced on the 21st that it will officially operate the '2026 Jeonbuk-style Nulbom School' starting from the new semester in March to ensure that all children can safely nurture their dreams.
The Jeonbuk-style Nulbom School is an integrated care and education system aimed at resolving the care gap for elementary lower grades and reducing the burden of childcare on parents. It targets elementary 1st and 2nd graders, providing tailored programs for 2 hours daily, including various activities suitable for developmental stages such as play, experience, basic learning, and emotional support.
Starting this year, it will expand up to the 3rd grade and introduce an 'After-School Program Voucher (worth 500,000 won per year)' to reduce the burden of private education expenses and broaden participation opportunities.
To address blind spots in care, it will collaborate with 209 institutions such as local child centers, and in Jeonju, Gunsan, and Gochang, it plans to strengthen the local-based response system by operating 'Community Care and Education Centers.'
Furthermore, it will establish a 'School Nulbom Consultative Body' involving schools, local governments, and local institutions to promote tailored support and program operation reflecting local characteristics. To enhance student safety, it will apply the principle of accompanying return for 1st and 2nd graders, expand the deployment of Nulbom guardians, and concurrently conduct flexible patrols in coordination with the Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency.
Oh Sun-hwa, head of the Future Education Department, said, "The Jeonbuk-style Nulbom School will be a core policy responding to the low birth rate era, functioning as an integrated model of education and welfare, rather than just simple care."
