Jeonbuk Provincial Council Holds the 424th Temporary Session... Legislative Activities for 12 Days Until February 6

The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Council (Chairman Moon Seung-woo) convened its first session of the 424th interim session on January 26, 2026, and began its legislative activities for 12 days until February 6. The Council is scheduled to operate for a total of 123 days through a total of 9 sessions this year, including 2 regular sessions and 7 interim sessions.

During the first plenary session of this interim session, Governor Kim Gwan-young and Acting Superintendent of Education Yoo Jung-gi explained the provincial and educational administrative directions for 2026. In addition, Jang Yeon-guk, the floor leader of the Democratic Party (proportional representation), announced the key tasks for the new year through the representative speech of the negotiating group.

Subsequently, 10 members raised local issues through 5-minute free speeches, and during the plenary session, resolutions are expected to be processed, including a resolution to attract a semiconductor cluster to Saemangeum, a resolution urging a strict judgment by the judiciary on former President Yoon Suk-yeol, a recommendation to activate the dementia guardianship system, and a recommendation to urge national support for asbestos building disposal.

Furthermore, each standing committee will listen to work reports by department and conduct field visits to local communities. Major agenda items, including 8 ordinances, 1 resolution, and 2 consents, will be finally resolved at the second plenary session on February 6.

Chairman Moon Seung-woo stated, "I will do my best to protect the livelihoods with the people this year and strive for the dignity and future leap of Jeonbuk."
