Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province has embarked on establishing an integrated support system that supports foreign exchange students in their academic pursuits, daily life, employment, and settlement in the region.

On the 23rd, the province held an explanatory meeting on the 'Establishment of an Integrated Support System for Foreign Exchange Students' at the provincial office conference room, targeting the heads of international exchange departments at universities in the province. During the meeting, the province shared the policy direction and key contents of the project.

This project is centered around linking with Wonkwang University's Glocal University Regional Cooperation Project to coordinate and integrate support functions for exchange students dispersed across various universities at the provincial level. The plan is to establish a collaborative response system for areas that were difficult for individual universities to handle alone, such as visa changes, residency permits, legal, labor, and daily life counseling.

The collaborative system involves Wonkwang University, Jeonbuk International Cooperation and Development Institute, and administrative and legal specialized agencies. The main contents include establishing a counseling system for exchange students, providing integrated administrative, legal, and labor support tailored to their daily lives, conducting surveys on the status of exchange students and companies, linking employment and supporting settlement in the region, and promoting international exchange cooperation among universities.

Moon Sung-cheol, the head of the Special Self-Governing Education Cooperation Division of the province, stated, "Support for exchange students is urgently needed at the provincial level as there are limitations to universities providing support individually." He expressed hope that this project would reduce the burden on universities and contribute to the stable settlement of exchange students.

Kang Yeon-seok, the head of the International Exchange Office at Wonkwang University, stated, "We will work with universities in the province to establish an effective integrated support system."

In the future, Jeonbuk Province plans to continuously refine the system based on feedback from universities on the ground and create a foundation for exchange students to settle stably in Jeonbuk.
