The 23rd National Winter Sports Competition for the Disabled (hereinafter referred to as the Disabled Winter Sports Competition) will be held from the 27th to the 30th in various locations in Gangwon Special Autonomous Province.
At this competition, a total of 1,127 athletes (486 athletes and 641 officials and staff) from 17 different regions will compete in 7 winter sports disciplines. Cross-country skiing, biathlon, alpine skiing, and snowboarding events will take place at the Pyeongchang Alpensia Biathlon Stadium and Resort, as well as the Phoenix Park. Ice hockey and curling events will be held at the Gangneung Hockey and Curling Center, while the figure skating (short track) events will be held at the Chuncheon Songam Sports Town Ice Rink.
Since its inception in 2004, the 'Disabled Winter Sports Competition,' now in its 23rd edition, has provided a stage for disabled winter sports athletes to showcase their skills and grow, contributing to the spread of the culture of enjoying winter sports among the disabled.
In particular, many top domestic disabled winter sports athletes who will participate in the 14th Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Paralympics in March this year are expected to compete in this event. Their matches can be witnessed at the respective venues during the competition.
Under the slogan "Challenge Towards Dreams! Soar in Gangwon!" all matches of this event, held under this motto, are open for free viewing to the public.
