(사)한지문화진흥원(이사장 김혜미자)은 16일부터 오는 10월 18일까지 전주시 일원에서 ‘제24회 전주-가나자와 전통공예전’을 개최한다.
전주시와 일본 가나자와시는 자매도시를 맺은 지난 2002년부터 올해로 24년째 해마다 번갈아가며 전통공예 작품 교류전을 추진하고 있다.
올해 전시는 약 한 달 동안 3개의 장소에서 순차적으로 전시가 진행된다.
먼저 9월에는 전주한옥마을에 위치한 하얀양옥집과 전주공예품전시관에서 전시가 진행되며, 오는 10월에는 ‘2025 전주국제한지산업대전’과 연계해 한국전통문화전당에서 양 도시의 전통공예 작품들을 만나 볼 수 있다.
특히 한·일 대표 전통공예도시인 두 도시의 매력을 엿볼 수 있는 이번 교류전에는 가나자와시의 대표 공예 기법인 가가상감 기법을 활용한 작품 등 총 130여 점의 전통공예품이 전시된다. 여기에 우리에게 친숙한 전주지역 공예작가들의 작품 30여 점도 함께 선보인다.
이와 관련 이번 행사를 위해 전주를 찾은 가나자와시 방문단은 이날 윤동욱 전주시 부시장을 만나 무라야마 다카시 가나자와시장의 친서를 전달하며 20년 이상 이어져 온 두 도시의 우호 관계를 재확인했다.
The 24th Jeonju-Ganazawa Traditional Crafts Exhibition Held
The Korean Paper Culture Promotion Foundation (Chairman Kim Hye-mija) will be hosting the 24th Jeonju-Kanazawa Traditional Crafts Exhibition in various locations in Jeonju from the 16th to October 18th.
Since forming a sister city relationship in 2002, Jeonju and Kanazawa, Japan have been taking turns hosting traditional craft exchange exhibitions every year for the past 24 years.
This year's exhibition will take place sequentially at three locations over about a month. In September, exhibitions will be held at the White Sheep House in Jeonju Hanok Village and the Jeonju Craft Exhibition Hall. In October, in conjunction with the 2025 Jeonju International Hanji Industry Fair, visitors can see traditional craftworks from both cities at the Korean Traditional Culture Center.
This exchange exhibition, where you can catch a glimpse of the charm of the representative traditional crafts of both countries, will showcase a total of around 130 traditional craftworks, including works utilizing Kanazawa's representative craft technique of Kaga Zogan. Additionally, about 30 works by familiar Jeonju local craft artists will also be presented.
In connection with this event, a delegation from Kanazawa visiting Jeonju met with Vice Mayor Yoon Dong-wook on the day and delivered a letter from Kanazawa Mayor Murayama Takashi, reaffirming the longstanding friendly relationship between the two cities that has lasted for over 20 years.
