제26회 전주국제영화제(공동집행위원장 민성욱·정준호)가 30일 오후 6시 30분, 한국소리문화의전당 모악당에서 성대하게 막을 올렸다.
‘우리는 늘 선을 넘지’라는 도전적인 슬로건을 내건 올해 영화제는 오는 9일까지 열흘간 이어지며, 전 세계 57개국에서 초청된 224편의 영화가 전주 일대에서 상영된다.
본격적인 개막에 앞서 열린 레드카펫 행사에서는 국내외 영화인들과 주요 초청 인사들이 한자리에 모여 관객과 소통하는 시간을 가졌다.

개막식은 민성욱, 정준호 공동집행위원장의 환영사로 시작됐으며, 우범기 조직위원장의 개막 선언과 개막공연이 이어졌다. 특히 이날은 전주 출신으로 한국 영화계에 큰 족적을 남긴 故 송길한 시나리오 작가에게 특별 공로상이 수여됐다. 지난해 12월 별세한 고인을 기리기 위해 유가족이 대리 수상하며 깊은 울림을 전했다.

Especially on this day, a special merit award was presented to the late screenwriter Song Kil-han, who hails from Jeonju and left a significant mark on the Korean film industry.
