Jeonju Honam Bookstore operates various literary programs with the participation of citizens.
The literary program named "
" is being operated as part of the '2025 Literature Resident Writer Support Project' organized by the Korea Culture and Arts Council. Honam Bookstore was selected for the 2025 Literature Resident Writer Support Project and will invite poet Kim Seong-cheol from May 2025 to conduct various literary programs.
As part of the Honam Bookstore literary program, the "Poetry Creation Class 1, 2" will be held starting from June 14. "Poetry Creation Class 1" will target literary beginners interested in poetry and will focus on 'imagining, empathizing, and writing whimsical poems,' with an advanced course, "Poetry Creation Class 2," scheduled for the second half of August.
Furthermore, the book club "" will commence from June 21. This book club will read one poetry collection every two weeks and provide a platform for sharing thoughts on themes like 'My Found Poem' and 'Poems that Console Me.' It aims to help participants find and console themselves through poetry, with plans to read a total of 10 poetry collections.
Kim Seong-cheol, the resident writer at Honam Bookstore, won the Yeongnam Ilbo Shinchun Literary Award in 2006 and has published poetry collections such as "The Scent of Moonlighting Rain" and "The Fragrance of the Moon in the Grass Field." It is expected that through this project, he will deeply connect with local residents.
In addition, Honam Bookstore plans to host renowned authors for lectures and conversations with resident writers until November. They will also continue to operate various programs to cultivate a culture where citizens can enjoy books.
