우석대학교(총장 박노준)가 오는 7월 3일부터 11일까지 전주캠퍼스 체육관에서 ‘제23회 총장기 전국 태권도대회’를 개최한다.
대한태권도협회와 공동 주최하는 이번 대회는 격파, 품새, 겨루기 세 부문으로 나뉘어 9일간 진행되며, 전국에서 2,189명의 선수들이 출전해 기량을 겨룬다.
격파 부문은 7월 34일 중·고등부 170명이 참가하고, 58일 열리는 품새 부문에는 1,417명이 출전한다. 마지막 겨루기 부문은 9~11일 진행되며, 고등부 602명이 10개 체급에서 토너먼트 방식으로 겨룬다.
정희석 대회 조직위원장(산학협력단장)은 “20년 넘게 이어온 태권도 교육의 결실로, 전국 태권도인의 화합의 장이 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 개회식은 7월 4일 오전 11시에 열리며, 우석대 태권도시범단은 전북 2036년 하계올림픽 유치를 기원하는 퍼포먼스를 선보일 예정이다.

The opening ceremony will be held on July 4 at 11 a.m., and the Ulsan University Taekwondo Demonstration Team is scheduled to perform a special performance wishing for the successful bid of Jeonbuk for the Summer Olympics in 2036.
