전북특별자치도를 비롯한 도내 각 시·군이 15일 제80주년 광복절을 맞아 순국선열과 애국지사의 희생을 기리고 광복의 참뜻을 되새기는 기념행사를 개최했다.

전북도는 도청 공연장에서 주요 내빈과 국군장병, 보훈단체 회원, 도민 등 900여 명이 참석한 가운데 경축식을 열었다. 행사에서는 호남지역 유일 생존 애국지사 이석규(99) 선생이 소개됐고, 김관영 지사가 무대에서 직접 꽃다발과 위로 물품을 전달했다. 전북도립국악원 무용단과 군산푸른소리합창단이 공연을 펼쳤으며, 참석자 전원이 만세삼창으로 마무리했다.

전주시는 보훈누리공원 독립운동추념탑에서 참배행사를 열고 헌화·분향과 묵념을 통해 선열들의 희생정신을 기렸다. 우범기 시장은 “순국선열들의 뜻을 계승하는 것은 모두의 책임”이라고 밝혔다.

군산시는 시청 대강당에서 500여 명이 참석한 가운데 경축식을 열었으며, 식전 공연과 함께 기념사, 경축사, 광복절 노래 제창, 만세삼창 순으로 진행됐다. 광복회원들은 행사 후 은파호수공원 내 독립운동 기념탑을 참배했다.

남원시는 춘향문화예술회관에서 500여 명이 참여한 가운데 경축식을 열고, 국립민속국악원의 특별 음악회를 마련했다. 판소리 춘향가 눈대목을 오라토리오 형식으로 재구성해 국악관현악과 합창이 어우러진 무대가 눈길을 끌었다.

완주군은 완주독립운동추모공원에서 150여 명이 참석한 가운데 기념행사를 진행했다. 특별전시 ‘기억의 80걸음, 마음에 새긴 80년’과 현판 제막식이 열려 광복 80년의 의미를 되새겼다.

정읍시는 연지아트홀에서 경축식을 개최하고 광복절 기념영상과 함께 지역 독립운동가를 조명했다. 이학수 시장은 “광복은 수많은 희생이 이뤄낸 결실”이라며 국가유공자 예우를 강조했다.

올해 광복 80주년 경축행사는 각 지자체별 특색 있는 공연과 전시, 추모행사 등을 통해 선열들의 희생을 기리고, 도민들과 함께 광복의 참뜻을 공유하는 자리로 마련됐다.

Local cities and counties in Jeollabuk-do held commemorative events on the 15th to mark the 80th Liberation Day, honoring the sacrifices of patriotic martyrs and patriots and reflecting on the true meaning of liberation.

Jeollabuk-do held a ceremony at the provincial performance hall with around 900 attendees including key guests, military personnel, members of veterans' organizations, and residents. The event featured the introduction of the only surviving patriot in the Honam region, 99-year-old Lee Seok-gyu, with Governor Kim Gwan-young personally delivering floral bouquets and consolation items on stage. Performances were presented by the Jeollabuk-do National Gugak Center Dance Troupe and Gunsan Pure Sound Choir, concluding with a resounding cheer from all participants.

In Jeonju, a commemoration ceremony was held at the Independence Movement Memorial Tower in the Veterans' Park, paying tribute to the spirit of sacrifice of the patriots through offerings, incense offerings, and moments of silent reflection. Mayor Woo Beom-gi emphasized that "it is everyone's responsibility to carry on the will of the patriotic martyrs."

Gunsan City organized a ceremony at the City Hall Grand Hall with around 500 attendees, featuring performances, commemorative speeches, singing of Liberation Day songs, and cheers, followed by the members of the Independence Movement visiting the Independence Movement Memorial Tower in the Eunpa Lake Park.

Namwon City held a ceremony with around 500 participants at the Chunhyang Cultural Arts Center, featuring a special concert by the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts. The traditional pansori "Chunhyangga" was rearranged in an oratorio format, combining traditional Korean instrumental music and choir, creating a captivating stage.

In Wanju County, a commemorative event was held at the Wanju Independence Movement Memorial Park with around 150 attendees. A special exhibition titled "80 Steps of Memory, 80 Years Engraved in the Heart" and an unveiling ceremony were conducted to reflect on the significance of the 80th Liberation Day.

Jeongeup City organized a ceremony at the Yeonji Art Hall, showcasing a commemorative video of Liberation Day and highlighting local independence activists. Mayor Lee Hak-soo emphasized that "liberation is the fruit of numerous sacrifices" and stressed the importance of honoring national merit recipients.

This year's 80th Liberation Day commemorative events were tailored to each local government's unique performances, exhibitions, and memorial services, aiming to honor the sacrifices of patriots and share the true meaning of liberation with the residents.
