드론축구 종주 도시 ‘전주’를 전 세계에 알리고 드론축구로 세계 연결을 시도하는 세계 최초 드론축구월드컵이 막을 올렸다.

전주시는 25일 전주월드컵경기장에서 ‘2025 전주드론축구월드컵(FIDA World Cup Jeonju 2025)’의 개막식과 함께 4일간의 대장정에 돌입했다고 밝혔다.

이날 개막식에는 드론축구 민관 조직위원장인 우범기 전주시장과 김정태 전주상공회의소 회장을 비롯해 전 세계 33개국에서 선수단 및 방문객, 시민, 자원봉사자, 서포터즈 등 1만 5000여 명이 참가했다.

개막식은 드론축구를 통해 세계를 하나로 연결하고 무한한 가능성을 향해 도약한다는 의미가 담긴 ‘드론축구, 하늘을 열고 세계를 잇다’는 슬로건 아래 시작됐다. 사전공연으로 전북특별자치도 어린이 국악현악단의 합창을 시작으로 전주대학교 태권도시범단 ‘싸울아비’가 기백 넘치는 무대로 관중의 환호를 이끌었다. 이어 150대의 군집 드론에어쇼가 전주의 밤하늘을 수놓았다.

사전공연에 이어 전북도 무형유산인 왕기석 명창의 애국가 제창, 취타대의 전통 군악 퍼레이드, 기수대 행렬이 이어져 개막식 분위기를 고조시켰다.

특히 호주 선수단의 입장을 시작으로 아시아권(15개국) 판아메리카(7개국), 유럽(7개국), 아프리카(3개국), 오세아니아(1개국) 등 세계 33개국 선수단이 개막식장을 메우며 관중들로부터 환호와 함성을 이끌었다.

개막식 관람객들도 응원하는 팀이나 국가를 소개할 때마다 응원을 담은 함성으로 선수단을 맞이했다. 이어 대회 공동조직위원장인 우범기 전주시장의 개회사, 노상흡 국제드론축구연맹(FIDA) 회장의 환영사, 국토교통부 제2차관을 비롯한 주요 인사들의 축사가 이어졌으며 테너 3인의 월드컵 주제가 공연과 대회기가 게양됐다.

The world's first Drone Soccer World Cup, which attempts to promote the city of Jeonju as the leading city in drone soccer and connect the world through drone soccer, has kicked off.

Jeonju City announced that on the 25th, the opening ceremony of the '2025 Jeonju Drone Soccer World Cup (FIDA World Cup Jeonju 2025)' took place at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium, marking the start of a four-day event.

The opening ceremony was attended by around 15,000 participants, including players and visitors from 33 countries around the world, citizens, volunteers, and supporters, along with U Beom-gi, the mayor of Jeonju and the civilian organizing committee chairman for drone soccer, and Kim Jeong-tae, the chairman of the Jeonju Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Under the slogan 'Drone Soccer, Opening the Sky and Connecting the World,' the opening ceremony symbolized leaping towards infinite possibilities by connecting the world through drone soccer. The event began with a pre-performance by the children's traditional music orchestra of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, followed by a Taekwondo demonstration team from Jeonju University called 'Ssaulabi,' which excited the audience with their dynamic performance. Subsequently, an air show featuring 150 clustered drones lit up the night sky of Jeonju.

Following the pre-performance, the atmosphere of the opening ceremony was further heightened by the singing of the national anthem by Wang Ki-seok, a master singer of intangible cultural heritage in Jeonbuk Province, a traditional military band parade by Chwita-dae, and a procession by mounted troops.

In particular, the entrance of the Australian team was followed by teams from Asia (15 countries), Pan-America (7 countries), Europe (7 countries), Africa (3 countries), and Oceania (1 country), filling the opening ceremony venue with cheers and applause from the audience.

The spectators welcomed each team or country with cheers as they were introduced. Subsequently, speeches were delivered by U Beom-gi, the mayor of Jeonju and co-chairman of the organizing committee, Noh Sang-heub, the president of the International Drone Soccer Federation (FIDA), and other key figures, followed by a performance by three tenors on the theme of the World Cup.
