지역 협력으로 학습 환경 개선, 교육권 보장에 힘 보태

추석을 앞두고 동군산새마을금고(이사장 이명희)와 군산경찰서 청소년지도위원회 대야지회가 협력해 대야면 조손가정 아동을 위한 주거·학습 환경 개선 사업을 펼쳤다. 이번 사업은 새마을금고중앙회 전북지역본부가 주관하는 ‘MG희망나눔사업’의 일환으로, 지난 17일부터 25일까지 9일간 진행됐다.

지원 대상 가정에는 약 500만 원 상당의 도배, 장판, 창호 교체가 이뤄졌으며, 특히 손자가 안정적으로 학습할 수 있도록 별도의 공부방이 마련됐다. 단순한 주거 지원을 넘어 아동의 학습권을 보장하고 교육적 성장을 지원하는 데 초점이 맞춰졌다.

이번 사업은 지역 공동체의 자발적 참여로 의미가 더욱 깊다. 청소년지도위원 중 인테리어 전문가들이 직접 재능을 기부해 시공에 나섰고, 동군산새마을금고 임직원과 사랑의 좀도리위원들은 청소와 정리 등 봉사활동에 참여했다.

집수리 지원을 받은 조손가정은 “낡고 어두운 집이 환하게 바뀌고, 손자에게 공부방까지 생겨 너무 기쁘다”며 고마움을 전했다.



이명희 동군산새마을금고 이사장은 “이번 사업은 단순한 금전적 지원을 넘어 아이들에게 더 나은 학습 환경을 만들어주는 뜻깊은 기회였다”며 “앞으로도 지역사회와 함께하는 다양한 나눔 활동을 통해 공동체 가치를 실현하겠다”고 말했다.

대야면 청소년지도위원회 관계자도 “청소년을 위한 활동뿐 아니라 지역 아동의 학습권 보장을 위해 재능기부를 확대해 나가겠다”며 “지역사회에 나눔과 연대의 문화가 뿌리내릴 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.

이번 사례는 지역 사회의 협력이 교육 취약 계층 아동의 학습 환경 개선으로 이어진 모범적 실천으로, 교육의 공공성과 공동체적 책임을 다시 한번 일깨워 주었다.

Improving Learning Environment through Local Cooperation, Strengthening Education Rights

As Chuseok approaches, Dong Gunsan Saemaeul Credit Union (Chairman Lee Myung-hee) and the Daeya-ji Council of the Gunsan Police Station collaborated to carry out a project to improve the living and learning environment for children from single-parent families in Daeya-myeon. This project is part of the 'MG Hope Sharing Project' organized by the Saemaeul Credit Union Central Headquarters in Jeollabuk-do, and it took place for 9 days from the 17th to the 25th.

The targeted households received approximately 5 million won worth of painting, flooring, and window replacements, and a separate study room was set up specifically to ensure that the grandchildren could study in a stable environment. The focus was not just on simple housing support but on guaranteeing the children's right to education and supporting their educational growth.

This project holds deeper significance due to the voluntary participation of the local community. Interior experts among the youth council members directly volunteered their talents for construction, while employees of Dong Gunsan Saemaeul Credit Union and members of the Love Sharing Committee participated in volunteer activities such as cleaning and organizing.

The single-parent families who received home repair support expressed their gratitude, saying, "Our old and dark house has become bright, and we are so happy that a study room has been created for our grandchild."

Lee Myung-hee, Chairman of Dong Gunsan Saemaeul Credit Union, stated, "This project was a meaningful opportunity to create a better learning environment for children beyond simple financial support," and added, "We will continue to realize community values through various sharing activities with the local society."

An official from the Daeya-ji Council also mentioned, "We will expand talent donations not only for youth activities but also to ensure the educational rights of local children," and expressed, "We will strive to establish a culture of sharing and solidarity in the local community."

This case serves as an exemplary practice where local community cooperation led to the improvement of the learning environment for educationally vulnerable children, reminding us once again of the public nature of education and communal responsibility.
