전북현대모터스FC(단장 이도현, 이하 전북현대)의 U11팀이 한·일 축구 우정을 쌓기 위해 일본으로 떠났다.

전북현대 U11로 구성된 이번 참가팀은 ‘2025 나이키 앤틀러스 컵’ 대회 참가를 위해 10일 오전 인천공항을 통해 출국했다.

나이키 앤틀러스 컵은 일본의 전국 유스팀이 각 지역에서 예선을 거쳐 32개 팀이 본선에 올라 겨루는 대회로 명성이 깊은 유스 축구대회다.

이 대회는 일본 J리그 명문 클럽인 ‘가시마 앤틀러스’가 주최하고 ㈜ 나이키 재팬이 특별협찬하고 있으며 올해도 가시마 앤틀러스를 비롯해 가와사키 프론탈레 등 많은 유스팀이 참가한다.

전북현대는 가시마 앤틀러스 측의 초청으로 특별 자격을 부여받아 지난 2016년부터 코로나 기간을 제외하고 매년 참여하고 있다.

전북현대 U11팀은 대회 기간인 11일부터 13일까지 3일간 예선전 6경기를 비롯해 순위 결정전 등을 치를 예정이다.

대회 방식은 32개 팀 8개 조로 구성되며 경기 방식은 전,후반 각 15분씩 8인제로 운영된다.

전북현대 U11팀은 축구 경기 외에 가시마 앤틀러스 ‘스타디움 투어’를 참여하고 가시마 앤틀러스 유스팀 선수들의 가정집에서 홈스테이를 통해 머무르며 한·일 간 축구로 우정을 쌓는다.

가시마 앤틀러스 유스팀 선수들이 전주를 방문했던 지난 3월에는 전북현대 유스팀 선수들의 가정에서 홈스테이를 진행한 바 있다.

U12 박범휘 감독은 "지난해에 이어 또다시 우리 선수들에게 좋은 기회를 만들어준 전북현대와 가시마 앤틀러스 양 구단에 깊은 감사를 드린다"며 "이 대회는 참가 자체만으로도 선수들에게 잊지 못한 소중한 선물이다. 경쟁 보다는 서로 성장할 수 있는 시간이 되고 향후 성인이 돼서도 축구로 맺은 이 우정이 지속되기를 바란다"고 말했다.

The U11 team of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC (Chairman Lee Do-hyun, hereinafter Jeonbuk Hyundai) has departed for Japan to build friendship through a Korea-Japan soccer exchange.

The participating team, composed of Jeonbuk Hyundai U11 players, left through Incheon Airport on the morning of the 10th to participate in the '2025 Nike Atlas Cup' tournament.

The Nike Atlas Cup is a prestigious youth soccer tournament in Japan where 32 teams compete in the finals after qualifying through regional preliminaries.

This tournament is hosted by the renowned Japanese J-League club 'Kashima Antlers' and is specially sponsored by Nike Japan. This year, many youth teams including Kashima Antlers and Kawasaki Frontale are participating.

Jeonbuk Hyundai has been participating annually since 2016, except during the COVID period, after receiving a special invitation from Kashima Antlers.

The Jeonbuk Hyundai U11 team is scheduled to play six qualifying matches and ranking matches over three days from the 11th to the 13th during the tournament.

The tournament consists of 32 teams divided into 8 groups, with matches being played in 15-minute halves with 8 players per team.

In addition to soccer matches, the Jeonbuk Hyundai U11 team will participate in a 'Stadium Tour' at Kashima Antlers and stay at the homes of Kashima Antlers youth players through homestay programs to foster friendship through soccer exchanges between Korea and Japan.

In March, when the Kashima Antlers youth team visited Jeonju, the Jeonbuk Hyundai youth team players hosted them for a homestay program.

Coach Park Beom-hwi of the U12 team expressed deep gratitude to Jeonbuk Hyundai and Kashima Antlers for providing another great opportunity for their players this year, stating that the tournament itself is a precious gift for the players. He also mentioned that he hopes the friendship formed through soccer during this tournament will continue even as the players grow into adults, providing them with a time for mutual growth rather than just competition.
