전북현대 U14 유스팀이 ‘2025 항저우 첸차오 컵' 국제 유스대회 참가를 위해 20일 중국 항저우로 출국했다.
‘2025 항저우 첸차오 컵' 국제 유스대회는 중국 저장성 항저우 체육국에서 주최하고 항저우시가 지원하는 대회로 프랑스의 올림피크 리옹, AJ 오세르를 비롯해 우라와 레즈(일본), 파흐타코르 타슈켄트(우즈벡) 등 해외 유스 6개 팀과 중국 U14 대표팀, 상하이 선화, 저장FC 등 4개 팀 총 10개 팀이 모여 치른다.
전북현대 U14 유스팀은 21일부터 26일까지 2개 조 5개 팀으로 구성된 이번 대회에서 세계 유수의 유스 선수들과 기량을 겨룬다.
대회 방식은 같은 조의 5개 팀끼리 단일 라운드 로빈으로 조별 리그를 치른 후 다른 조의 같은 순위 팀과 플레이오프 갖는다.
27일에는 경기뿐만 아니라 유소년 축구 발전 포럼 일정도 있어 세계 각국의 유스팀 간 상호 발전을 논의하는 시간도 가질 예정이다.
전북현대는 지난 7월 U13 팀의 중국 ’퓨처 챔피언스 컵’과 10월 U12 일본 ‘나이키 앤틀러스 컵’ 참가, PSV 연수에 이어 이번에는 중국 ‘항저우 첸차오 컵' 출전으로 유스 팀의 국제 무대 경험을 계속해서 확장해 나가고 있다.
전북현대는 유스 팀의 운영 방향은 성장과 배움이라는 철학을 실천하기 위해 이번 대회의 참여를 결정했다며 선수들이 많은 경험을 통해 글로벌 축구 인재로 성장하기를 바란다고 전했다.
