Now in its 9th year, this event is designed to showcase the potential of disability culture and arts, and to expand social awareness of disabilities through art. It is organized by the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Disability Culture and Arts Association, sponsored by the Disability Rights Alliance, a corporation. The stage is composed of various forms such as classical music, bands, and performances, showcasing the capabilities of the performers in a three-dimensional manner.
The organizers refer to the participants of this performance not simply as 'disabled participants' but as local artists. As they showcase their skills honed through long hours of practice and their unique sensibilities, the efforts of their families, support staff, and the staff behind the scenes are also reflected. The organizers emphasized that the applause and support of the audience serve as the driving force for the performers to move on to the next stage, stating, "We hope that this stage will be viewed not as 'disability art' but as the creation of an individual."
An art exhibition linked to the concert took place at the Ddabak Cafe on the 2nd floor of Jeonju Food Hyocheon Branch from October 27 to November 2. The exhibition captured the perspectives and sensibilities of local disabled artists, with various stakeholders such as local artists, staff, and parents participating in the preparation process. This demonstrates that this event is more than just a performance but a local collaborative project created by both disabled and non-disabled individuals.
The method to watch is simple. Just access the official channel and select the stream from the live tab. If you want notifications, subscribe to the channel and set up notifications. The organizers have stated that they plan to consistently provide opportunities for disabled artists to create and present their work under their own names in the future.
