(재)전주문화재단(대표이사 최락기)은 2026년 예술인지원사업 두 번째 기획전시로 윤미순 작가 개인전 ‘K-민화, 한지에 깃든 전통의 숨결’을 오는 2월 3일부터 15일까지 한국전통문화전당 3층 기획전시실에서 개최한다.

이번 전시는 지역 예술인의 창작 활동을 지원하고 시민에게 다양한 예술 향유 기회를 제공하기 위한 예술인지원사업 기획전시의 일환으로 마련됐다. 전통 민화를 한지 위에 현대적 감각으로 재해석한 작품 20여 점을 선보인다.

윤미순 작가는 ‘K-민화’라는 조형 언어를 바탕으로, 전통 한지 위에 시간의 흐름에 따라 차분히 쌓아 올리는 방식으로 전통 민화를 현대적 시선에서 풀어내는 작업을 꾸준히 이어오고 있다. 한지라는 전통 소재에 민화 특유의 오방색 안료를 사용해 전통 회화가 동시대의 미감과도 자연스럽게 어우러질 수 있음을 보여준다.

전시에서는 책가도와 황금모란 등 민화의 대표적인 소재를 작가만의 시선으로 재구성한 작품들을 만나볼 수 있다. 길상과 복을 기원하는 민화 본래의 의미를 유지하면서도, 현대인의 생활공간과 정서에 어울리는 표현으로 풀어낸 점이 특징이다.

그중에서도 근래 가장 화제가 되고 있는 ‘호작도’ 작품이 눈에 띈다. 호작도는 호랑이와 까치를 함께 그린 민화로, 호랑이는 액운을 막고 까치는 복과 희소식을 전하는 상징이다. 현대에 전 세계적으로 인기를 끌고 있는 ‘케이팝 데몬 헌터스’ 콘텐츠의 캐릭터인 더피와 서씨 역시 호작도의 이미지를 차용해 악귀를 물리치고 길상을 지켜내는 이야기로 재해석된 바 있다. 본 작품은 이러한 호작도의 원형적 의미를 되살려 구현한 작업으로, 가까운 전주에서 실제 호작도를 감상할 수 있는 기회다.

윤미순 작가는 전주한지공예대전 특별상, 전북미술대전 우수상, 대한민국미술대전 특선 등 다수의 수상 경력을 통해 작품성을 인정받았으며, 현재 전북민화회 부회장으로 활동하고 있다. 또한 전주한지공예대전과 전북미술대전 초대작가로 참여하며 지역 미술계에서 꾸준히 작품 활동을 이어가고 있다.

The Jeonju Cultural Heritage Foundation (Representative Director Choi Rak-gi) will hold the second planned exhibition of the 2026 Artist Support Project, featuring the solo exhibition of artist Yoon Mi-soon titled 'K-Minhwa, Traditional Breath Embedded in Hanji,' from February 3rd to 15th at the 3rd floor planned exhibition hall of the Korean Traditional Culture Center.

This exhibition is part of the Artist Support Project exhibition series aimed at supporting the creative activities of local artists and providing diverse opportunities for citizens to enjoy art. It will showcase over 20 pieces of artwork that reinterpret traditional Minhwa on Hanji with a modern sensibility.

Artist Yoon Mi-soon has been consistently working on interpreting traditional Minhwa from a modern perspective by methodically layering it on traditional Hanji over time based on the sculptural language of 'K-Minhwa.' By using the traditional five-color pigments unique to Minhwa on Hanji, the artist demonstrates how traditional painting can naturally harmonize with contemporary aesthetics.

In the exhibition, visitors can see works where the artist reinterprets representative themes of Minhwa such as Chalkado (a painting of a tiger and magpie) and Hwanggeum-moran (yellow peony) from her own perspective. These works maintain the original meanings of Minhwa that wish for good fortune and blessings while expressing them in a way that resonates with modern living spaces and emotions.

One of the most talked-about works recently is the 'Chalkado' piece. Chalkado is a Minhwa painting depicting a tiger and magpie, where the tiger wards off evil spirits and the magpie brings good fortune and good news. This piece has been reinterpreted as a story where characters from the globally popular 'K-pop Demon Hunters' content, The Puffy and Seosse, defeat demons and protect the good fortune, drawing inspiration from the imagery of Chalkado. This work revives the original meaning of Chalkado and provides an opportunity for viewers to appreciate the actual Chalkado in Jeonju.

Yoon Mi-soon has been recognized for her artistic achievements through numerous awards such as the Special Prize at the Jeonju Hanji Craft Biennale, Excellence Award at the Jeonbuk Art Biennale, and Special Selection at the Korea Art Biennale. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Jeonbuk Minhwa Association and continues her artistic activities steadily in the local art scene by participating as an invited artist in the Jeonju Hanji Craft Biennale and Jeonbuk Art Biennale.
