전주세계소리축제조직위원회(조직위원장 최철, 이하 소리축제)는 11일 열린 조직위원회 조직위원 총회에서 김정수 전주대 교수를 신임 집행위원장으로 선임했다.

이번 인선은 축제의 중장기 운영 방향을 재정비하고, 예술 기획과 조직 운영의 완성도를 한층 끌어올리기 위한 결정으로 이뤄졌다. 소리축제는 공연예술 전반에 대한 폭넓은 이해와 대규모 문화행사 기획·운영 경험을 두루 갖춘 인물이 축제 운영을 총괄할 필요가 있다는 판단 아래 김정수 교수를 적임자로 위촉했다.

김정수 신임 집행위원장은 전북도립국악원 예술단 공연기획실장과 상임연출을 역임했으며, 소리축제 예술감독을 맡아 축제 기획과 제작 전반을 이끈 바 있다. 또한 전주국제영화제 사무국장, 전주월드컵 문화행사집행위원회 기획연출팀장, 제84회 전국체육대회 문화행사추진기획단장, 제99회 전국체육대회 개·폐회식 총감독 등을 역임하며 대규모 문화행사 기획과 연출 분야에서 경험을 쌓아왔다.

학계에서도 활발한 활동을 이어오고 있다. 우석대 연극영화과 겸임교수와 영국 SOAS 런던대학교 방문교수를 지냈으며, 현재는 전주대 공연예술학과 교수로 재직 중이다.

소리축제는 김정수 신임 집행위원장이 예술 현장과 학계, 지역을 아우르는 경험을 바탕으로 축제의 예술적 방향 설정과 운영 전반을 안정적으로 이끌 것으로 기대하고 있다.

김정수 신임 집행위원장은 “소리축제는 우리 음악과 세계 음악이 만나 소통해 온 의미 있는 축제”라며 “그동안 축제가 축적해 온 성과를 존중하면서 예술적 깊이와 동시대적 감각을 조화롭게 확장해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다. 이어 “예술가와 관객, 지역사회가 함께 신뢰할 수 있는 축제가 될 수 있도록 책임감을 갖고 역할을 수행하겠다”고 강조했다.

한편, 소리축제는 이번 집행위원장 선임을 계기로 예술성과 공공성을 균형 있게 강화하고 국내외 교류 확대와 안정적인 축제 운영 기반 구축에 주력해 나갈 계획이다.

The organizing committee of the Jeonju World Sound Festival (Chairman Choi Cheol, hereinafter referred to as the Sound Festival) appointed Professor Kim Jeong-soo of Jeonju University as the new executive director at the general meeting of the organizing committee held on the 11th.

This appointment was made to reassess the long-term operational direction of the festival and to elevate the completeness of artistic planning and organizational operations. It was determined that it was necessary to appoint an individual with a broad understanding of the performing arts and extensive experience in planning and operating large-scale cultural events to oversee the festival, leading to the appointment of Professor Kim Jeong-soo.

Professor Kim Jeong-soo, the new executive director, previously served as the head of performance planning at the Jeollabuk-do Provincial Traditional Music Institute and also directed performances. He has been in charge of artistic direction for the Sound Festival, leading the planning and production of the festival. Additionally, he has held positions such as the head of the Jeonju International Film Festival office, the planning and directing team leader for the Jeonju World Cup Cultural Event Organizing Committee, the head of the planning team for cultural events at the 84th National Sports Festival, and the overall supervisor for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 99th National Sports Festival, accumulating experience in planning and directing large-scale cultural events.

He has also been actively involved in academia, serving as a concurrent professor in theater and film studies at Woosuk University and a visiting professor at SOAS, University of London in the UK. Currently, he is a professor in the Performing Arts Department at Jeonju University.

The Sound Festival expects that with Professor Kim Jeong-soo's experience encompassing the arts, academia, and the local community, he will lead the festival's artistic direction and overall operations steadily.

Professor Kim Jeong-soo stated, "The Sound Festival is a meaningful festival where our music meets world music and communicates," adding, "While respecting the achievements the festival has accumulated so far, I will expand the artistic depth and contemporary sensibility harmoniously." He emphasized, "I will perform my role with a sense of responsibility to make the festival a trusted event for artists, audiences, and the local community."

Furthermore, following the appointment of the new executive director, the Sound Festival plans to focus on balancing artistic quality and public appeal, expanding domestic and international exchanges, and establishing a stable foundation for festival operations.
