전주시는 연일 계속되는 폭염에 대응해 도로 위 열기를 식히기 위한 살수차 운영을 확대한다고 30일 밝혔다.
시는 기존 정해진 구역 외에도 민원 다발 지역, 보행자 밀집 지역, 버스 정류장, 전통시장, 병원 등 유동 인구가 많은 곳을 중심으로 살수작업을 추가하고, 운영 횟수도 최대한 늘릴 방침이다.
덕진구와 완산구는 폭염특보 발효 시 오전 9시부터 오후 5시까지 살수차를 수시로 가동하고 있으며, 현재 양 구청은 각 6대씩 총 12대를 운영 중이다. 주말과 휴일에도 예외 없이 가동된다.
완산구는 46㎞ 주요 간선도로에, 덕진구는 기린대로·백제대로 등 16개 구간에 살수차를 투입하고 있다.
서울시 보건환경연구원에 따르면 도로 살수는 도로면 온도를 약 6.4℃, 보도 온도를 1.5℃ 낮추는 효과가 있으며, 먼지 제거와 도로 손상 예방 등의 부수 효과도 기대된다.
전주시 관계자는 “시민이 체감할 수 있는 실효성 있는 폭염 대응으로 시민 안전을 지키겠다”며 “현장 중심의 살수작업을 지속적으로 강화해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
