고 정기용 건축가가 남긴 무주군 공공 건축물을 조명하는 다큐멘터리 <정기용, 감응의 건축: (옛)서창향토박물관>(정다운 감독, 2025)이 제22회 EBS국제다큐영화제와 제17회 서울국제건축영화제의 공식 상영작으로 선정됐다.

<정기용, 감응의 건축: (옛)서창향토박물관>은 정기용 건축가가 1996년부터 2008년까지 약 10여 년간 진행한 무주 공공건축 프로젝트 중 하나였던 (옛)서창향토박물관((현) 무주군 농어촌종합지원센터)을 중심으로 그의 건축이 지닌 감응의 태도와 공공성을 섬세하게 포착하고 있는 다큐멘터리다. 특히 <이타미 준의 바다>(2019) 등 건축 다큐멘터리를 꾸준히 제작해온 정다운 감독은 건축이 인간과 자연, 지역과 시대를 연결하는 매개가 될 수 있다는 점에 주목하며 건축가 정기용의 철학을 깊이 있는 연출력으로 조명했다.

무주산골영화제가 (재)전북특별자치도문화관광재단의 2024년 지역문화예술육성지원사업의 지원을 받아 제작한 이 작품은 지역성과 공공성을 바탕으로 한 문화예술 기록물의 의미 있는 사례로 평가받고 있다. 무주산골영화제는 <정기용, 감응의 건축: (옛)서창향토박물관>을 시작으로 '정기용 건축가 무주 공공건축'과 관련한 영상 기록 프로젝트를 계속해서 이어나갈 계획이며, 올해 하반기에 국내에서 가장 아름다운 운동장 중 하나로 손꼽히는 무주등나무운동장을 기록하는 다큐멘터리를 준비중이다.

<정기용, 감응의 건축: (옛)서창향토박물관>은 지난 제13회 무주산골영화제 첫 공식 상영을 시작으로 오는 25일부터 31일까지 열리는 제22회 EBS국제다큐영화제(극장상영 및 TV방영)와 9월 12일부터 25일까지 열리는 제17회 서울국제건축영화제(극장상영)에서 관객들과 다시 한 번 만날 예정이다.

Architect Go Jung-gi's documentary, "Go Jung-gi, Responsive Architecture: (Former) Seochang Hyangto Museum" (directed by Jung Da-un, 2025), which highlights public buildings in Muju County, has been selected as an official screening at the 22nd EBS International Documentary Film Festival and the 17th Seoul International Architecture Film Festival.

"Go Jung-gi, Responsive Architecture: (Former) Seochang Hyangto Museum" focuses on the (former) Seochang Hyangto Museum (currently the Muju County Rural Village Support Center), which was one of the public architecture projects in Muju that architect Go Jung-gi worked on for about 10 years from 1996 to 2008. The documentary delicately captures his architectural attitude and public spirit, particularly emphasizing how architecture can serve as a mediator connecting humans and nature, as well as the local and contemporary aspects. Director Jung Da-un, who has consistently produced architectural documentaries like "Junya Ishigami, How Small, How Vast, How Architecture" (2019), sheds light on architect Go Jung-gi's philosophy with profound insight.

This film, produced with support from the 2024 Regional Cultural and Arts Development Support Project of the (former) Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Cultural Tourism Foundation, is being recognized as a significant example of cultural and artistic documentation based on regional and public elements. The Muju Mountain Village Film Festival plans to continue the video documentation project related to "Go Jung-gi's Muju Public Architecture," starting with "Go Jung-gi, Responsive Architecture: (Former) Seochang Hyangto Museum," and is currently preparing a documentary on the Muju Deungnamu Sports Park, considered one of the most beautiful sports parks in the country in the latter half of this year.

"Go Jung-gi, Responsive Architecture: (Former) Seochang Hyangto Museum" will meet audiences again at the 22nd EBS International Documentary Film Festival (theatrical screening and TV broadcast) from the 25th to the 31st of this month, and at the 17th Seoul International Architecture Film Festival (theatrical screening) from September 12th to the 25th.
