국토교통부(장관 박상우)와 국토지리정보원(원장 조우석)은 4월 20일 장애인의 날을 맞아, 3D 점자지구본, 대한민국 및 세계 점자 지도집, 부산광역시 도시철도 노선 및 7개 국립공원 점자안내지도를 제작하여 오는 17일부터 순차적으로 제공한다.
이번에 제작한 지도별 특징은 다음과 같다.
‘3D 점자지구본’은 국내 최초로 3D 모델링을 통해 세계 대륙과 해안 경계, 날짜변경선, 경도·위도, 북극점·남극점 등 세계지리 교육에 필요한 주요 정보를 입체적으로 표현하여 시각장애 학생이 촉각을 통해 직관적으로 지구의 형상을 이해할 수 있도록 하였으며, 교육 목적의 기본형(지름 30㎝)과 전시 목적의 대형(지름 100㎝) 등 두 가지 형태로 제작하였다.
‘대한민국 및 세계 점자지도집’은 2016년~2017년에 제작한 기존 지도에 최신 정보를 반영하여 갱신하였으며, 시각장애인의 접근 편의성을 높이기 위해 전체적인 지도집 설명을 음성으로 들을 수 있는 정보무늬(QR코드)를 삽입하였다.
아울러, ’24년 제작한 ‘부산광역시 도시철도 노선 점자안내도’에 노선(부산역 1호선-3호선) 간 환승역 지도를 추가하여 새롭게 제작하였다.
해당 지도는 부산지역 시각장애 관련 기관뿐만 아니라, 부산교통공사와 협업하여 부산광역시 주요 도시철도 역에도 비치할 계획이다.
이와 함께, 국토지리정보원은 환경부 국립공원공단과 협업하여 시각장애인이 일상에서 더 안전하게, 더 편리하게 공간정보를 활용할 수 있도록‘국립공원 점자 안내 지도’를 제작하여 서비스한다.
이번에 배포되는 지도는 ▲경주 ▲북한산 ▲설악산 ▲소백산 ▲치악산 ▲태백산 ▲팔공산 등 7개 국립공원을 대상으로 현장실사 및 사용자·전문가 의견을 반영하여 제작하였다. 공원의 위치, 편의시설, 탐방로 안내 및 난이도, 각 국립공원의 대표 생물자원 등을 확인할 수 있다.
해당 지도는 7개 국립공원 탐방안내소에서 무료로 배포되며, 국립공원생태복지서비스 프로그램 등 다양한 분야에 활용될 예정이다.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Park Sang-woo) and the National Geographic Information Institute (Director Cho Woo-seok) will provide a 3D Braille globe, Braille maps of South Korea and the world, the Busan Metropolitan City subway routes, and Braille guide maps for seven national parks starting from the 17th of this month, in celebration of the Disabled Persons' Day on April 20.
The features of the maps produced this time are as follows:
The '3D Braille Globe' is the first in Korea to express key information necessary for global geography education, such as world continents, coastal boundaries, the International Date Line, longitude, latitude, the North Pole, and the South Pole, in a three-dimensional manner through 3D modeling. It is designed to allow visually impaired students to intuitively understand the shape of the Earth through touch. It is produced in two forms: a basic educational model (30 cm in diameter) and a large exhibition model (100 cm in diameter).
The 'Braille Maps of South Korea and the World' have been updated by reflecting the latest information on the existing maps created between 2016 and 2017. To enhance accessibility for visually impaired individuals, an information pattern (QR code) that allows listening to the overall map description in audio has been inserted.
Additionally, the 'Braille Guide Map of Busan Metropolitan City Subway Routes,' which was last produced in 24 years ago, has been newly created by adding a transfer station map between lines (Busan Station Line 1-3).
This map is planned to be placed not only in visual impairment-related organizations in the Busan area but also at major subway stations in Busan in collaboration with the Busan Transportation Corporation.
Furthermore, the National Geographic Information Institute has collaborated with the Korea National Park Service to produce 'Braille Guide Maps of National Parks' to help visually impaired individuals utilize spatial information more safely and conveniently in their daily lives.
The maps to be distributed this time have been produced based on on-site surveys and feedback from users and experts for seven national parks including Gyeongju, Bukhansan, Seoraksan, Sobaksan, Chiaksan, Taebaeksan, and Palgongsan. They provide information on the park's location, facilities, hiking trails, difficulty levels, and representative biological resources of each national park.
These maps will be distributed for free at the seven national park visitor centers and are expected to be utilized in various fields such as the National Park Ecological Welfare Service Program.
