전북특별자치도립국악원(원장 유영대)은 오는 15일 저녁 7시 30분 한국소리문화의전당 명인홀에서 2025 상반기 <목요상설 가·무·악> 4회차‘창작 중주의 밤’을 개최한다.

이번 공연은 모든 곡이 창작 중주곡으로 구성되었다. 국악기의 특색을 살리면서 현대적 감성을 담아낸 프로그램을 중심으로 무대에 올려 전통과 현대의 조화를 보여준다.

첫 프로그램은 국악기 중 힘차고 맑은 음색으로 전통음악에서 중심 선율을 이끄는 역할을 맡아온 피리를 위한 중주 무대 피리 5중주‘마지막 잎새’로 문을 연다.

피리 5중주‘마지막 잎새’(작곡 박경훈)는 오헨리의 감동적인 단편소설 '마지막 잎새'의 내용을 음악으로 표현했다. 피리의 서정적인 음색을 최대한 살려 소설의 아름답고 감동적인 내용을 음악으로 풀어냈다.

이어 지성과 품격을 상징하는 악기로 중후한 음색을 자랑하는 거문고 중주와 깊고 애절한 음색이 매력인 아쟁 중주가 준비되어있다.

거문고 2중주‘출강’(작곡 김용실)은 흥남제련소에서 일하는 노동자들의 남성적인 힘을 표현한 곡이다. 동살풀이 장단으로 활기차게 시작되어 서정적인 분위기로 전환되었다가 역동적인 느낌으로 끝을 맺는다.

아쟁 3중주‘해무’(작곡 박인정)는 아쟁의 독특한 음색과 깊이 있는 표현력을 통해 바다의 고요함과 웅장함, 그리고 변화무쌍한 모습을 묘사했다. 서서히 피어오르는 안개처럼 잔잔하게 시작해 점점 깊어지고, 바람과 파도 소리를 연상케 하는 다채로운 연주 기법으로 긴장감과 여운을 더했다.

네 번째 곡은 전통 관악기 중 가장 대표적인 악기인 대금을 중심으로 한 대금 4중주 – 모차르트 세레나데‘Eine Kleine Nachtmusik’K.125(작곡 모차르트)로 이어진다.

이 곡은 모차르트의 작품 중 대중적으로 가장 인기 있는 곡으로, 누구나 한 번쯤은 들어본 익숙한 선율로 구성되어있다. 이번 무대에서는 대금 중주로 재해석해 관객의 시선을 사로잡는다.

다음은 유구한 역사를 지닌 한국 전통 현악기의 상징 가야금 중주가 이어진다. 특히 이번 무대는 다양한 개량을 걸쳐 넓은 음역대를 자랑하는 25현 가야금으로 중주를 이룬다.

25현 가야금 5중주‘몽금포 환상곡’(작곡 김성국)은 황해도 민요 몽금포타령의 선율을 주제로 작곡한 작품이다. 변주곡 형식을 중심으로 구성했으며 중간 부분의 앞부분과 대비되는 선율은 몽금포 타령의 한 부분을 빌려 주제로 삼았다. 화성적 양식과 대위적 양식 그리고 전통 장단과 민요의 선율 양식을 적절하게 사용했다.

마지막 무대는 정악, 산조, 창작국악까지 다양한 분야에서 활발히 되며 많은 사랑을 받는 국악기 해금의 중주 무대로 마무리한다.

해금 7중주‘삼인행’(작곡 이용탁)은 총 3악장으로 구성되어 있다. 삶의 여정에 함께하는 이들의 관계를 희, 로, 애, 락으로 표현한 곡으로, 2악장의 경쾌한 굿거리장단의 리듬과 3악장의 생동감 있는 변박을 통하여 각 파트의 선율과 리듬, 그리고 화성이 어우려져 곡의 긴장과 이완을 보여준다.

The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province National Gugak Center (Director Yoo Young-dae) will host the 4th performance of the 2025 first half "Thursday Regular Concert - Music and Dance" titled 'Night of Creative Chamber Music' at 7:30 pm on the 15th at the Myeongin Hall of the Korean Sound Culture Center.

This performance consists entirely of original chamber music pieces. The program focuses on incorporating modern sensibilities while preserving the unique characteristics of traditional Korean musical instruments, showcasing a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity on stage.

The first program will open with a chamber music performance for the flute, a powerful and clear-toned instrument that leads the central melody in traditional music, featuring a flute quintet 'The Last Leaf.'

'The Last Leaf' for flute quintet (composed by Park Kyung-hoon) expresses the moving story of O. Henry's poignant short story 'The Last Leaf' through music. By maximizing the flute's lyrical tones, the beautiful and touching narrative of the story is conveyed through music.

Following that, there will be a chamber music performance for the geomungo, symbolizing wisdom and dignity with its deep and soulful tones, and the ajaeng, known for its deep and poignant sounds.

The geomungo duet 'Chulgang' (composed by Kim Yong-sil) portrays the masculine strength of laborers working at the Heungnam Ironworks. The piece starts energetically with a lively rhythm, transitions into a lyrical mood, and concludes with a dynamic feel.

The ajaeng trio 'Haemu' (composed by Ba In-jeong) describes the serenity, grandeur, and ever-changing nature of the sea through the unique tones and expressive capabilities of the ajaeng. Starting calmly like rising fog, it gradually deepens, incorporating various playing techniques that evoke the sounds of wind and waves, adding tension and resonance.

The fourth piece features the daegeum, the most representative traditional wind instrument, in a daegeum quartet performance of Mozart's Serenade 'Eine Kleine Nachtmusik' K.125 (composed by Mozart).

This piece, one of Mozart's most popular works, is composed of a familiar melody that many have heard before. In this performance, the daegeum quartet's reinterpretation captivates the audience's attention.

Next, the gayageum, a symbol of Korea's traditional string instruments with a rich history, will take the stage. Particularly, this performance will feature a gayageum quintet with 25 strings, showcasing a wide range of tones achieved through various modifications.

The 25-string gayageum quintet 'Fantasy of Monggeumpo' (composed by Kim Sung-guk) is a composition based on the melody of the Hwanghae-do folk song 'Monggeumpo Taryeong.' It is structured around a theme and variations format, incorporating contrasting melodies borrowed from parts of the Taryeong. It effectively utilizes harmonic and contrapuntal forms, traditional rhythmic patterns, and folk song melodies.

The final performance concludes with a chamber music piece for the haegeum, a traditional Korean string instrument that is widely loved and active in various fields such as court music, sanjo, and creative Korean music.

The haegeum septet 'Sam-in-haeng' (composed by Lee Yong-tak) consists of three movements. It expresses the relationships of individuals on life's journey through joy, sorrow, love, and pleasure. The lively rhythm of the second movement's cheerful gutgeori-jangdan and the dynamic development of the third movement's vibrant variation sections blend the melodies and rhythms of each part, harmonizing tension and relaxation in the piece.
